Large-scale Residential Refurbishment
Large-scale thermostatic radiator control for a residential refurbishment

Introduction
This European housing development underwent a wider building refurbishment followed by a hydronic radiator-control upgrade. The scope covered several thousand radiator-control sets.
The project required a standardised thermostatic radiator-control concept that could be coordinated across planning and installation.
The Hydronic Challenge
The project team and delivery network needed a repeatable radiator-control specification for several thousand sets. The same product concept needed to be coordinated across the installer and wholesaler network serving the residential development.
- Apply one radiator-control concept across several thousand sets
- Provide individual room-temperature control within the residential buildings
- Coordinate the specification across the installer and wholesaler network
Solution
Climate Control, a sector of IMI, supported the project with IMI Heimeier Eclipse thermostatic radiator valves and Halo-B thermostatic heads. Eclipse provides integrated flow-limiting functionality, allowing the required radiator flow setting to be made directly at the valve. Halo-B is a secured thermostatic head designed for individual room-temperature control in buildings used by many occupants.
Several thousand Eco Eclipse sets were used. The combination of Eclipse valves and Halo-B thermostatic heads formed the installed radiator-control specification.
Project Approach
Using the same valve and thermostatic-head combination across the installation established a common specification for planning and installation. At radiator level, the solution combines flow setting with individual room-temperature control.
