For IMI client, a U.S.-based large technology company, cooling solutions were integral to their Data Centre operations. Key challenges included: 

  • Efficiency: Reducing operational costs through energy-efficient HVAC solutions.

  • Collaborative Solution Design: Working closely with stakeholders, including IMI, the technology company, and a leading ventilation equipment manufacturer, to create a system that would integrate seamlessly with the client's CRAC units and address their precise needs. 

The Solution

IMI and the ventilation equipment manufacturer teams collaborated to design a system that would enhance energy efficiency and support the client’s high-security requirements. After a thorough assessment, IMI recommended its TA-Modulator Pressure Independent Balancing and Control Valve (PIBCV) and TA-Slider actuator as the core components of the solution. These products were chosen for their ability to maintain precise control over flow rates, support system security, and deliver the high performance required in Data Centres. 

Key Components 

  • TA-Modulator PIBCV: As a pressure-independent balancing valve, the TA-Modulator ensures optimal flow control irrespective of system pressure fluctuations, enhancing both energy efficiency and cooling accuracy. In addition, the uniquely shaped EQM characteristics provide highly precise temperature control. 
  • TA-Slider Actuator: The TA-Slider actuator complements the TA-Modulator by maintaining system stability during power outages. This fail-safe feature is critical in environments like Data Centres where system downtimes can compromise data integrity. 

Together, these components delivered a robust solution capable of adapting to the client’s demanding operational environment while upholding rigorous security measures.
